Just a couple of photos today from our long weekend trip to the Lake District and to Kendal Mountain Festival. On Friday we drove up into the Lakes a bit to stroll around Windermere and Bowness on Windermere. While a bit touristy both of these little towns are very pretty indeed. I especially enjoyed walking around the little independent homeware and gift shops. You can find the cutest bits and pieces that would make for perfect stocking stuffers or little luxury gifts. Look out for wool socks and handmade slippers, for scented candles, soaps or maybe a bag of fudge.
There is probably no better time than late autumn to visit here. I mean, spring, summer and winter are all gorgeous as well, but there was something special about this hazy November day The leaves on the trees were all beautiful shades of yellow and orange and some snow had already fallen on the hills. Our stroll was quite wet but that's nothing a good waterproof jacket can't solve.
This time around we didn't manage to make the time to go for big walks around the Lakes but we are headed back very soon to spend Christmas in the Lake District and we'll definitely get in some hiking time then. It's also going to be my first English Christmas with Adam's family.
Anyway, back to these snapshots. I am really enjoying playing around with my macro lens lately. I want to get better at low light photography but will have to get myself a little tripod first. And I am also considering upgrading my camera. I'd love to hear your input on this as I am currently using a Sony a35 and am considering changing brands and going for Canon instead. Any recommendations that you would like to share with me? I would consider a smaller camera but I like my lenses to be interchangeable and with the added weight of a lens a bulkier body can actually be nicer to handle. It also means that essentially the lenses will be a bit smaller.
So that's that. As I said, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments! Also, don't miss our new Instagram!
